Lowering the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water supply of a boiler is absolutely critical to control internal corrosion of the boiler (steam ball), even more critical that the operating pressure of the boiler is high.
The periodic inspection of the level of internal corrosion inside the boilers is part of their operating process and also most of the time includes a complete stop of the boiler for one annual inspection. Usually, a deaeration device is used on most large industrial boilers during this inspection, and may be completed with oxygen scavenger. Like any industrial unit, this continuous operation should be optimized not only to ensure dissolved oxygen minimum leveboiler, but also to reduce the injection of chemicals O2-scavenger.
