One of the goal using Neosens Fouling probe was to define the optimal concentration of a new innovative biocide treatment in an open recirculated cooling system of a thermal power plant.

During phase 1, the biofilm was let to grow without any biocide treatment. Once its thickness reached 100 μm, a new innovative biocide treatment was injected during phase 2. Its concentration in the water loop was decreased step by step ([a], [b] and [c]) down to the level where the biofilm was measured to grow again ([d]). Concentration [c] was then defined as being the lowest & optimal concentration of biocide at this period of the year in order to keep the system clean and the biofilm growth under control.
